Introduction to Regrow's Sustainability Insights product
Sustainability Insights (SI) is a collection of data products (KPIs) with a configurable user interface to enable a user to explore the data interactively and visually.
SI supports regenerative agriculture ambitions by summarizing and displaying a set of practice and outcome KPIs. Practice KPIs or metrics measure the interventions applied within an agricultural system.
Outcome KPIs or metrics measure the (modeled) outcomes of a regenerative agriculture system.
The base version of SI includes the following data product or KPIs:
-
Practice: Cover cropping; Tillage
-
Outcome: GHG emissions; SOC sequestration
Both practice and outcome measurements are time series metrics updated annually related to agricultural practices for individual fields. The SI KPIs are calculated by aggregating field level data to best understand the context of the farm or ranch and integrate the regenerative agriculture principles most accordingly.
Each SI KPI is aggregated and filterable by the following parameters:
-
“Regional” boundaries (i.e. state or county)
-
Individual crop type
-
Individual crop year
A crop type is defined as the crop that is cultivated during the summer growing season. A crop year is defined as approximately 1 November of the previous year through 31 October of the crop year. For example, the 2020 crop year extends from 1 November 2019 through 31 October 2020 where a cover crop planted in Fall of 2019 and terminated in Spring 2020 would be part of the 2020 Regrow data. Each season is defined as the following: fall (November 1 to December 30), winter (January 1 to February 28) and spring (March 1 to April 30).
