Calculate emissions due to fuel combustion from using planting machinery.
Overview
Quantifies the amount of emissions generated due to the use of planting machinery on the field due to fuel combustion. This will account for any crops planted in the cultivation cycle of the measured crop.
Limitations
This methodology does not include the actual production of the machinery or maintenance.
This activity’s methodology does not include additional speciality planting machinery specific for crops: rice, potatoes or other root vegetables like beets.

The harvested fresh yield for your measured crop, before any drying or other losses might occur. This is used as the yield denominator. |

The area used in the production of your measured crop. This should be a single field or single managed unit. Location is used to inform the emissions factors used. In most cases this is a global value for the crop and some select crops x geography this is country-specific. |

Emissions factor coefficients assumptions
Ecoinvent v3.11 is used as the source for all emissions factor coefficients. The following equipment is assumed.
The fuel type from Ecoinvent is diesel.
